Al Gore

Albert Arnold Gore Jr. or Al Gore (Washington DC, 31st March 1948) is an American politician and ecologist. He was the 45th Vice-president of the United States between 1993 and 2001 under the Presidency of Bill Clinton, and candidate for the Presidency in 2000, where he lost to George Bush. In 2007 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution to the reflection and action of the world on Climate Change, and was also awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize for International Cooperation. In 2006 he filmed the Oscar winning documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”, in which he presses for the search of “clean” energy to avoid the destruction of the planet.

Nicholas Negroponte

American scientist, known as the founder and director of Media Lab, a laboratory and think tank for design and new resources at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was the motivation behind producing low cost portable computers ($100) in order to reduce the digital gap. The foundation “One Lap Top per Child”, initiated by Negroponte and other members of the Media Lab, hopes to develop the use of computers in under developed countries.

Manuel Toharia

Degree in Physical Sciences, in 1969 he started working as a journalist. In TVE (Spanish national television) he directed and presented the scientific programmes Alcores (1981-1983) and Última Frontera (Last Frontier) (1983-1984). He was one of the promoters of the magazine Muy Interesante (very Interesting) and director of the magazine Conocer (Know). Later he became director of the La Caixa Science Museum (Alcobendas, Madrid) and since 1999 has been director of the Museo de las Ciencias Principe Felipe (Science Museum Principe Felipe) in Valencia.
